What helps you keep going?

Sometimes I am so ready to give up. The ear ringing is so loud and annoying…I just want to fade away.

But what helps to keep going?

Sometimes these are just little things, that make it better again.

A lot of times it helps me to know that I am not alone.

When your friends and family can´t understand what you are going through. Why you are in such a bad mood and why it is hard to follow a conversation when you are out or when there are other sounds….when you hardly ever want to go out or do something…but I guess I don´t need to tell you.

In moments like that I found it really helpful when I see that there are in fact many people out there who go through the same thing and that the tinnitus is affecting them in a similar way.

Often I almost start believing people who say that I just need to ignore it and that there are others who are able to do it. I start to believe that I am just taking it harder than it is, that I am making more out of it than it is.

Reading and seeing that this peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep is not just driving me crazy helps me lot!

Where do I find those follow sufferers?

Nowadays that is not a big problem. On facebook there are a bunch of groups you can join and they will give you support in hard times and give tips as well. Also there are a lot of online support groups . I have never been to a support group in real life, but I imagne it even more helpful when you actually see the people.

Writing in one of these groups is not something I have done very often, but reading what others write is sometimes very helpful. On the other hand a lot of times it really brings me down that there are people thinking about setting an end to their life.

For me, reading articles is the best way. It shows that it is real, that it is real enough to form associations, to investigate and you can get a lot of useful information and tips that way.

    I stumbled upon one of your pictures on Instagram, and now here I am reading your blog. I click on the link below the the picture. But enough of how I got here, on to the goods. Back in May of this year, I woke up in the middle of the night because of this loud pitch noise coming from both ears. I waited one week so it could go away but there it was. So I payed my doctor a visit and the noise was due to a congestion. He said it would take roughly two weeks for it to go away but that wasn’t the case. The intensity of the noise decreased up to the point where I could only hear it when going to bed. Sometimes it sounds like the ocean, a small vacuum, or a simply a zzzzzz. For some time I was scared of going into my room due to fear. But I told myself that I had to face it, I could no longer hide from it. Little by little I started noticing improvements and I can finally sleep well. Although I feel like the noise is still on my left ear I feel much better as oppose to how I felt since day one. what ever happens in the future, I know I’m not alone. Together we can help to improve our lives.
